Hersonissos Local Area:
Hersonissos is located 26 km east of Heraklion, lying between Anissaras and Stalis on
the road to Agios Nikolaos. Visitors can expect the level of entertainment and facilities
you’d expect from a popular resort of this size, and there are plenty of good swimming
and snorkelling beaches with an excellent choice of water sports.
If you prefer things a little quieter, then just a short distance outside the bustle
of the town you can still find picturesque villages and sandy beaches, small coves and
smaller pebble beaches in which to while away the hot summer days.
The harbour of Hersonissos is famous for its night life and is most popular with the
younger crowd, whilst neighbouring villages offer a quieter and more peaceful environment
for family holidays or older couples.
The visitor to Hersonissos will find an excellent range of shops with crafts, jewellery,
clothes, gifts and of course many places to rent cars or bikes. Enjoy one of the daily
cruises or to other islands. There’s plenty to do and see including historical
attractions, water parks, museums and several charming tavernas and bars with rooftop
terraces and breathtaking views.
