Wild and Wet: Malia has a fantastic golden beach with nice fine sand and
is about 3 miles long with a gentle sloping shoreline. The beach is split up into
areas with each section offering different music, styles, atmosphere – you choose
as most are open to the public and you hire your bed/parasol for the day. If you
enjoy a laugh - then you’ll be able to relive your childhood in one of the 4 water
parks in the area, one of which is in Malia itself.
Water Sports: There are plenty of water sports facilities on the beach
including Jet Skis, Banana Boats, Flying Fish, Ringos, Water Skiing, Pedalos and
Parasailing. Malia boasts a large number of diving centres which offer a full range of
PADI diving courses – so whether you are a novice or experienced diver you’ll be
catered for.
Boat Trips: There’s an awesome range of boat trip destinations, some even
offer onboard entertainment or swimming/picnics etc to small picturesque coves or
islands. it’s an excellent way to explore the local area and you can choose a day
cruise along the coast, to a nearby island or even a fishing trip – there’s something
to appeal to everyone.
Dining & Night-life:
Malia town has a two faced night life, but in a
nice way. One side of the town is very lively - New Malia – and the other side of the
road is traditional and much quieter - Old Malia. You’ll be spoilt for choice with
nightlife in New Malia which is awash with lively bars, clubs, restaurants and nightlife
along the its 1mile stip.
There’s a choice and budget to suit everyone in New Malia from fine dining to burger
bars. Old Malia has picturesque narrow, winding streets, traditional coffee shops
and Greek tavernas which sell delicious Cretan and Greek dishes. So there’s somewhere
in Malia to please every member of the group.
Malia Local Area: Malia is situated along the northern coast of Crete, and
around 25 minutes east of the international airport. It’s in an area of great natural
beauty with the backdrop of mountains covered in olive groves sweeping down to the
shores of the blue crystal waters of the Cretan sea.
One of the benefits of its location is its close - but not too close proximity to Malia
– as it allows guests a little bit of peace and quiet away from the noise of the centre
of town – thus providing a haven to chill out and maybe party a little away from the
main strip. We’d recommend this place for the under 30s, although don’t expect organised
entertainment and it’s definitely not one for the families.
