Water Sports: There are plenty of water sports facilities on the beach
including Jet Skis, Banana Boats, Flying Fish, Ringos, Water Skiing, Pedalos and
Parasailing. Malia boasts a large number of diving centres which offer a full range of
PADI diving courses – so whether you are a novice or experienced diver you’ll be
catered for.
Boat Trips: Many visitors enjoy taking a boat trip out from Malia harbour or
Haraklion, as it’s an excellent way to explore the local area. Choose a day cruise or
even a fishing trip or visit one of the smaller islands such as Santorini – there’s
something to appeal to everyone.
Other Activities: If you want to drag yourself away from the poolside at the
Cosmopolite Apartments there are plenty of activities to keep you busy.
There’s horse riding in Stalis, from where you can take a short or a full day’s trek.
Bicycles, Mopeds & Quads are popular and can be hired locally - licence required and
a helmet must be worn. Jeep Safaris are a great way to see Crete and there’s a Safari
company based in Malia who arrange amazing full days of entertainment off road in the
mountains with beautiful views and plenty of stories about the local area. There’s
also a Go-Kart track in the town, 18 hole golf course and a crazy golf course.

Dining & Night-life:
The complex has a waiter service restaurant serving simple but delicious breakfasts,
lunches and dinners. There’s also a snack bar and a lounge bar and terrace.
The town has two distinct feels to it. There’s the lively New Malia on one side of the
road and the sleepier Old Malia on the other! New Malia has bars, clubs and nightlife
and you’ll find plenty of choice for dining from International to traditional English.
And, then there’s Old Malia with its picturesque narrow, winding streets, traditional
coffee shops and Greek tavernas which sell traditional Cretan and Greek dishes. You
choose your own Malia!
Malia is a lively, atmospheric resort especially at night when the town comes to life;
the bars open at 8pm and continue right through until the early hours of the morning.
Malia Local Area: Malia is situated along the northern coast of Crete,
just 25 minutes east of the airport and in an area of great natural beauty where the
slopes of Mount Selena, set amidst olive groves, sweep down to the shores of the blue
sea.
Shopping: There’s plenty of choice of shopping in Malia and you’ll enjoy
hunting for bargains in the many clothes, shoe, local craft, leather goods, T-shirt,
jewellery and souvenir shops. There are also 3 large supermarkets in the town which are
particularly popular with self-catering visitors. For a wider choice of shopping,
Heraklion is only 30 minutes away. Don’t miss the wonderful Saturday morning market
with its fabulous bargains and unique atmosphere.
Sightseeing: Malia’s central location makes it a perfect base from which to
explore the whole island of Crete. Malia is surrounded by a myriad of places to visit
including ancient archaeological sites, museums, churches and idyllic traditional Cretan
