The Godlee Observatory is a hidden wonder of Manchester built in 1902 and still fully
functioning with the original telescope in place. Spiral staircases and interesting
architecture along with inspiring views make this definitely worth a visit. The Museum
of Science and Industry is perfect for Victorian era presentation and houses a wealth
of productions and machinery through the ages.
Sophisticated cafes and bars have become a major core of Manchester’s nightlife and
entertainment options. Why not visit the restaurant Le Petit Blanc belonging to the
famed chef Raymond Blanc or the popular curry mile home to Shere Khan. Make a night
of it and head off to a funky jazz or chic wine bar, after which you can party the
night away via the popular club scene.
International artists and famous celebrities grace the MEN for concerts and shows so try
and catch one of these whilst you are visiting. Alternatively the Pankhurst Centre, a
converted childhood home of the famous suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, is perfect for all
you history buffs. For more contemporary choices, there are countless art museums and
galleries to tour and admire.
