Visit the church of Igreja Do Carmo which is one of the most popular Faro attractions.
It has a Capella dos Ossos which is a bone chapel, decorated entirely out of the bones
of monks, making this a macabre sight. Faro’s cathedral is definitely worth a visit and
is a mix of Renaissance and Baroque styling.
Faro is home to a large number of restaurants and cafes which will cater to every taste
and budget. Rua Santo Antonio and Rua Francisco Gomes have a lot of restaurants and are a
popular choice with locals and tourists alike. For seafood delights visit Adega Dois Irmaos
which is the city’s oldest seafood restaurant. Try some delicious Portuguese food at a
number of different restaurants, and sample some of the local cakes which are made with figs
and almonds.
